Nathan Thomas, a biology/ pre-med major and member of the class of 2023, was recently accepted to the University of Mississippi Medical School.

Announcing Choctaw Marching Band 2022 Ensemble The Choctaw Marching Band is directed by Duncan Goff, and consists of many different sounds including the flute, clarinet, saxophone, mellophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, sousaphone, percussion, and the Color Guard. The Marching Band will be performing at various football games and other events through the fall season.

Mississippi College congratulates new Choctaws on their acceptance and enrollment in the Fall of 2022. It's a great time to be a Choctaw, The Princeton Review has tapped MC as one of the "Best Southeastern Colleges;" a newly strengthened relationship between MC and the Mississippi Band of Choctaws is flourishing, and the groundwork is being laid for an exciting development on Highway 80 that will enhance the life of MC students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Nine current or former Mississippi College students have been selected to participate in scholarship programs designed to increase the number of physicians and dentists serving the healthcare needs of citizens living in rural areas of the state.

The Mississippi College Department of History and Political Science announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Lexie Daigle (Martha Hudson Social Studies Education Teacher in Training Award): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in the field of Social Studies Education. Sam Hughes (Outstanding Senior in Political Science): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in the field of Political Science. Michaela Cooper (Outstanding Senior in Pre-Law): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in Pre-Law studies Ean Pincus (Outstanding Senior in Paralegal Studies): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in the field of Paralegal Studies. Sapreet Singh (Outstanding Senior in Administration of Justice): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in the field of Administration of Justice Matt Drew (Edward L. McMillan Award for Excellence in History; P.I. Lipsey, Jr. Award): The McMillan Award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance in the discipline of History. The Lipsey Award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance in courses related to European and/or ancient history. Hannah Creel (Outstanding Senior in Pre-Law): This award is presented each spring to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and promise in Pre-Law studies. Carson Hughes (Phi Alpha Theta Award): This award is given to a first-year student who has demonstrated excellence in History classes.

The Mississippi College Department of Communication announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. The Hollis and Julia Todd Scholarship is awarded to sophomore Communication majors. Eight students were selected this year: Savannah Blackwell, Evan Brown, Noah Drewes, Anna Grace Lane, Isabel McConnell, Sydney Shaw, Peyton Torrence, and Gabby White.

The Mississippi College Department of Communication announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Ely Alas received the Bob Pittman, Jr. Journalism Scholarship. The Bob Pittman, Jr. Journalism Scholarship is awarded to a Communication student with a concentration in Journalism.

The Lindsay Carole Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Communication major with a minimum 3.0 GPA; who is a leader in his or her church and community.

The William Alfred Middleton, Jr. Scholarship is awarded to a Communication major with a Journalism or Public Relations concentration.

MC's student recruiting organization, Scouts, has announced its selections for the 2022-23 academic year. Each year, students apply through the Office of Admissions to serve as Scouts where they will give campus tours, assist with recruiting events, and connect with prospective students.

The Mississippi College Office of Academic Affairs releases the dean's list after the close of fall and spring semesters each academic year. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average, based on a 4.0 system. The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Caylen Harms received the J.M. Lassetter Education Award. Caylen is studying Secondary Education Mathematics.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. McKenzie Copeland received the Jack B. Carmean Memorial Scholarship. The Jack B. Carmean Memorial Scholarship is a monetary award given annually to a Special Education major who, having completed their junior year, evidences potential for future contribution to the field of Special Education as demonstrated by scholastic achievement, leadership, and campus or community participation.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Jacob Ginn received the Eugene I. Farr Scholarship. An annual monetary award established by the Jackson Field Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa in honor of Dr. Eugene I. Farr, a 1926 graduate of Mississippi College and Professor of Education from 1954 to 1961. Based on scholar- ship, research and leadership, the award is made to one or more men students of the senior class who are preparing for a teaching career.

The Mississippi College Department of Modern Languages announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Chele Westbrook received the Excellence in TESOL Award. This award is given to a senior who is minoring in TESOL and who has exhibited passion and experience for teaching English as a Second Language students.

The Porter-Trott Award is given to a senior majoring in a foreign language who has exhibited exceptional ability in the field of foreign languages.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Kaylee Parks received the J.D. and Bertha McDonald Scholarship. A monetary award, funded by the Marion W. Effie McDonald Perry Foundation for Enriched Scholarships, given to the outstanding student who is planning a career in primary or secondary education. The student is to be selected during the junior year with the award to be used during the senior year.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Leighton Sistrunk received the Kappa Delta Pi Ann Wilson Clark Memorial Scholarship. A monetary award given annually to an Education student who has completed their junior year. This student must demonstrate high moral character and a professional commitment to teaching as recognized by the faculty of the School of Education.

As Mississippi College prepares to host six orientation sessions this summer, our student leadership is preparing all of the event details to welcome new students to campus. This year, the Office of Student Engagement has selected 34 students to serve as Orientation Leaders. This year's team includes Courtney Engel, Dylan Robertson, Jonathan Hestres-Rivera, Aaliyah Newsome, Abbie Gillespie, Abby McCoy, Alya Shanklin, Blake Felton, Blocker Harvison, Cameron Melton, Camryn Johnson, Claire Price, Colby Chadwick, Conner Cantrell, Conner Dyess, Corley Sullivan, Dalton Philips, Eliza Mims, Elizabeth Farnham, Gabby Cobbins, Gracelyn Noss, Jameson Cook, Josh Wilkes, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Kendall Lauderdale, Lindsey Buie, Madeline Brown, Malia Kossina, Mallory Burnside, Mason Kennedy, Nia Harvin, Sakari Faulkner, Sarah Beth Stambaugh, and Shauna Gandenberger.

The Mississippi College Department of Teacher Education and Leadership recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Allie Townsend was named the Glenda Locke White Elementary Education Honor Student of the Year. A monetary award given annually in memory of Glenda Locke White, a first grade elementary teacher and 1966 Mississippi College graduate. This award is given to the elementary education student who rated the highest standard of achievements in student teaching, scholarship, personal qualities, educational ideals and contributions.

The Mississippi College Department of English and Philosophy announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Joshua McKeown received the Dr. John Meadors Scholarship. The Dr. John Meadors Scholarship is given annually to recognize a student who has excelled in Philosophy at Mississippi College.

The Mississippi College Department of English announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Michaela Cooper received the Susan H. Lassiter English Award. The Susan H. Lassiter English Award is funded by the English full-time faculty to recognize senior transfer students majoring in English who embody the values and ideals of the English Department at Mississippi College.

The Mississippi College Department of Modern Languages announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Erin Davis received the Dr. Charles E. Martin Award. The Dr. Charles E. Martin Award recognizes a senior majoring in Spanish who has exhibited exceptional ability in the language and who shows future promise in the field.

The Mississippi College Department of English announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Addison Seal received the Excellence in English Education Award. The Excellence in English Education Award is given annually to the outstanding senior English Education major.

The Mississippi College Department of English announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Rachel Faulk received the Kerri S. Jordan Writing Award. The Kerri S. Jordan award is given to the outstanding senior English Writing major. The award is given in honor of teachers who value the power of writing to give voice to students.

The Mississippi College Department of Sociology and Social Work recently announced the 2021-22 academic year award winners. Libba Grace Dudley received the Senior Social Work Award. Libba also recently received the Perry Academic Award at the Student Experience Awards Gala.
